If you're a polling junkie like me, you've been checking the site all day for the latest PPP tracking poll of South Carolina. The one through Wednesday night is available here:
http://www.dailykos.com/...
That poll showed Newt Gingrich up 34-28 over Mitt Romney, with Santorum and Paul trailing.
I hadn't seen anything on either the front page or the diaries all day long, nor had I seen anything in the media, but lo and behold, here's what I found on the #PPPPolls Twitter account:
South Carolina through night 2: Gingrich 35, Romney 29, Paul/Santorum 15
For the 1st time in our SC tracking Newt's favorability (53%) now higher than Mitt's (51%)
Newt still beating Mitt 40-22 with SC evangelicals. No toll from 'open marriage' yet
Newt up 10+ with men, voters in Upstate, Tea Partiers, people describing themselves as 'very conservative'
Mitt leads in South Carolina with women, moderates, independents, and non-Evangelicals
Both Newt (81%) and Mitt (79%) have supporters who are pretty strongly committed to them
Keep an eye on Santorum voters in SC. Most likely to jump ship in final 36 and it would prob be to Newt
2nd choice of Santorum voters who say they might change their minds: Newt 45, Mitt 22
Full PPP story available here:

Based on the numbers, Newt is looking pretty good. The second choice numbers for Santorum are especially interesting, as is the apparent lack of effect of the first day of the Marianne Gingrich revelations.
More numbers for the final day of polling will apparently be available in the next five hours or so.
Can't wait!
UPDATE: Here are some Twitter teasers from today's numbers:
Put a fav/unfav on our final SC GOP poll on 'the media.' Coming in at 11/83 so far...Newt knows what he's doing
Only about 30% of SC Republicans saying they believe Marianne Gingrich's accusations...likely folks who already weren't for Newt
Very little difference between what we're seeing today in SC so far from Wednesday and Thursday. Modest Newt lead
